Exhibitions freed from restrictions, Helsinki Expo and Convention Centre offers a record-breaking busy spring

The restrictions on public events in Southern Finland have finally been lifted and Helsinki Expo and Convention Centre is ready for a record-breaking busy fair spring. Fairs and congresses are organized at a brisk pace from April until Midsummer week.

The Regional State Administrative Agency of Southern Finland has lifted all restrictions on events in Helsinki and the Uusimaa region in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area as of 14 February 2022. Helsinki Expo and Convention Centre is pleased with the full start-up of the business after two years of uncertainty and operating losses.

- We say goodbye to the Covid-19 years with relief. Our spring programme is unprecedently compact, but we are just grateful for the busy schedule. We are in a position to provide the public with experiences and companies with a marketing environment based on live encounters. When fairs open, euros will again start flowing to other industries affected by the pandemic as well, since events bring significant income to for instance hotels, restaurants, taxis and other services, says Anni Vepsäläinen, Managing Director of the Helsinki Expo and Convention Centre.

The first public event is the Spring Fair

Helsinki Expo and Convention Centre’s spring starts with the Spring Fair 7-10 April. The favourite event for yard and garden enthusiasts is now organised after a break of as much as three years. In connection with the Spring Fair, the event for gourmands, Local & Organic Food and On the Plate, presenting special diets, are also opened.

During Easter (15-17 April), American Car Show, the 50th anniversary exhibition presenting classic American cars, will be launched by the Finnish Hot Rod Association FHRA. At the end of April, the lively Child Fair (22-24 April) and the shopper’s dream event OutletExpo will open at the same time.

Strong professional events in May-June

May will follow up with the following events:  Technology (3-5 May), Maxpo (5-7 May) presenting land construction and environmental maintenance machines, Apuväline, presenting devices and tools for disabled (11-13 May), the cyber security special event Cyber Security Nordic (12-13 May), PacTec, FoodTec and PlastExpo Nordic (18-19 May) for professionals in the packaging, food and plastics industries and Gastro Helsinki (18-20 May) for hotel, restaurant and catering professionals.

The June events, including the international forest industry event PulPaper (7-9 June), ChemBio Finland (8-9 June) for the chemistry and biotechnology sectors and Helsinki Chemicals Forum (8-9 June), the special event for chemical safety, offer top-level seminar programme and internationally interesting exhibitions.

As a cherry on the cake, Helsinki Expo and Convention Centre will host the HIMSS22 Congress on European healthcare and health technology on 14-16 June. It has previously been held as a physical event in Finland only once.
