Gastro Helsinki 2022 offers samples on drink trends

Gastro Helsinki 2022 provides up-to-date information on trends and prospects in the beverage industry. Drink culture is addressed both in the interesting presentations on the stage and in the program supply at the Wine, Beer & Spirits area. Gastro Helsinki 2022 will be organised at the Helsinki Expo and Convention Centre on 18 – 20 May 2022.

The Gastro Helsinki 2022 programme stage will feature presentations on drink culture, starting from Finnish beverage history to current trends and future prospects. The visitors can marvel over alcohol policies and history as Merja Nummi, museum lecturer at the Hotel and Restaurant Museum, goes through restrictions and rules ranging from ban on bar stools and the circulating sandwiches to ban on singing and dancing.

Jussi Tolvi, the founder of Club Soda in London, will give a presentation on how the international sober curious -movement is shaping alcohol consumption and how the beverage industry is responding to consumer’s low-alcohol and non-alcohol beverage needs. Club Soda organizes meetings and festivals focusing on conscious drinking and has opened London’s first non-alcoholic beverage store. Tolvi’s presentations are part of the event’s programme in English.

-Non-alcoholic beverages are a bit like vegetarian food – their demand is constantly growing. Therefore, it is bad both financially and in terms of customer service not to address them. As the supply of non-alcoholic beverages grows, customers are beginning to demand a wider selection in bars and restaurants as well. The best places already offer several options in every beverage category, Tolvi points out.

Eetu Topo, author specialised in writing about drinks and founder of Kåska Drinks, will also dive deep into tomorrows’ drinking in a presentation on future trend reviews. The presentation promises answers to, among other things, how climate change will affect the beverage culture and reflects on if binge-drinking is going completely out of fashion.

Tastings and workshops in the Wine, Beer & Spirits area

The Gastro Wine, Beer & Spirits area is filled with interesting exhibitors with stands where you can taste drinks using tasting tickets. In addition to the program at the stands, interesting guided tastings are held daily in the area.

Gastro Helsinki is an event where you can see and taste innovations in the business, sniff out trends and seek inspiration for your own work! Today’s customer is no longer looking to get drunk, but is especially looking for taste experiences, regarding both non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages. This changing environment has been taken into account in our beverage area, where, among other things, a show bar and workshops will be held, says Gastro Helsinki’s beverage expert, Hanne Lindroos, Sales Manager for the Wine, Beer & Spirits area.

The show bar at Gastro Terrace, located in the beverage area, hosts daily workshops on rum and responsible cocktails. In addition, Gastro Terrace serves visitors the best spring terrace drinks.
