KoneAgria 2021 launched new products and awarded the best
This year, KoneAgria 2021 awarded two products with a gold medal and four with a silver medal. A record 15 products received an honourable mention. A jury consisting of agriculture journalists has selected the winners from among the new products entered in the new product competition. All new products will be presented at KoneAgria on 14-16 October 2021 in Tampere.
The jury’s main criteria in evaluating agricultural machinery innovations have been the product’s relevance to agriculture, impact on profitability and processes, environmental friendliness, energy efficiency and impact on workload and safety. An award-winning novelty product may also have been a functionality whose application brings significant improvement to an existing product or service. Veikko Niittymaa from Maaseudun Tulevaisuus, Eemeli Linna from Koneviesti, Pentti Törmä from Käytännön Maamies and journalist Uolevi Oristo were members in the new products’ jury. A record 86 products were entered in the new product competition at KoneAgria.
Two gold medalists
The jury has chosen the Hortimill growth carousel and the Hybrid Harvester Jobo EH50 Combi as gold medalists.
The Hortmill growth carousel is a carousel-structured layer cultivator that rotates around its longitudinal axis. Thanks to the rotational movement, the light is evenly distributed to each plant and minimizes the need for artificial light. Variable working and picking height enables an ergonomic picking position and also robots for picking. The jury emphasizes that the easy to place device enables, for example, the use of old farm buildings as greenhouses.
The Hybrid Harvester Jobo EH50 Combi has replaced the functions that require the most oil flow, such as feed roller traction motors and saw, with permanent magnet motors. Electric motors increase the accuracy and speed of operations and reduce the risk of oil leaks during logging. The jury emphasises the energy efficiency and environmental friendliness of the solution.
Four silver medalists
The silver medal awarded new machines are the Heizoclean EF185 electric filter, Climate & Nature, Lantmännen’s future farming programme, ThermoSeed and the Tume Harrow collection.
The Heizoclean EF185 electrostatic precipitator is an electrostatic prescipitator that significally reduces small particles in the bioboiler. The jury reminds that the most efficient removal of fine particles is a crucial factor in the utilization of bioenergy in the coming years.
In the Climate & Nature Lantmännen’s future farming programme, for the first time in Finland, a farmer is paid directly by way of the producer price for farming that produces climate benefits.
ThermoSeed is a seed treatment method that replaces chemical seed treatment with humid air and steam pasteurization. ThermoSeed works against seed borne plant diseases. First ThermoSeed plant is built in Vihervakka, Pöytyä and production and sales of the seed have started for spring 2022 use.
The Tume Harrow collection is a completely new domestic modifier collection. The jury emphasizes in particular the new T-model, which acts as both cultivator and a seed drill, so that a farm engaged in light tillage only needs one machine instead of two.
