Finnish Championships in Cosplay to Be Held at Arctic Lights Comic Con in May

The Finnish Cosplay Championships will take place on 16–17 May 2026 at Messukeskus Helsinki, as part of Arctic Lights Comic Con, a celebration of pop culture. The winners of Sunday’s competitions will go on to represent Finland on international stages.

The Finnish Championships in Cosplay will be held for the 11th time in 2026. This year, Cosvision ry will organize the competition as part of the Arctic Lights Comic Con event at Messukeskus Helsinki.

This time, the Finnish Championships will be divided into two parts. On Sunday, 17 May 2026, the main stage will host the cosplay competitions, where participants will showcase their skills in both craftsmanship and performance.However, the competition atmosphere begins already on Saturday, 16 May 2026, when photographers will compete for the title of Cosplay Photo of the Year.

Contestants will hand make their own cosplay costumes. They will showcase their costumes to an experienced cosplay jury on the competiton day and have an opportunity to tell more about the costume making process, used techniques and material choices. Contestants participating in a performance category prepare their own act including sound design, light design and a plot line.

In Sunday’s cosplay competitions, four winners will be selected to represent Finland on international stages. Finland will send representatives to the Europa Cosplay Cup in France and the International Cosplay League in Spain.

Competitors for the Finnish Championships in Cosplay will be selected through an open application process. The competition rules and application guidelines will be published onCosvision’s website later this autumn.

In addition to the Finnish Championships, Cosvision ry and Arctic Lights Comic Con will collaborate on the event’s cosplay programme and guest lineup. More information about the programme and guests will be announced later.
