Strength, skill and an incredible sense of community – that’s cheerleading!

The Finnish Cheerleading Federation will bring its energetic and community-driven sport to the Child First 2026 for the first time ever. At the event, visitors get to know cheerleading in an accessible, low-threshold way – offering experiences, hands-on activities and new enthusiasm for hobbies for the whole family.

Cheerleading is one of the fastest-growing sports in Finland and one of the keys to its popularity is its versatility. The sport combines strength, flexibility, acrobatics and coordination, but an equally important aspect is its strong sense of community. Teamwork, shared successes and an encouraging atmosphere make it a long-term hobby for many.

“The best thing about cheerleading is that it truly is for everyone – you can join without any prior experience in sports and progress according to your own goals,” says Eetu Vitikainen, Recreational Sports Developer at the Finnish Cheerleading Federation.

At the Sports Area, visitors can try cheerleading in practice at the Finnish Cheerleading Federation’s booth (6f90). There will be different activity stations, opportunities to try equipment and a chance to try stunting with guidance from experienced athletes. On the nearby Sports Stage, impressive stunt performances will take place every day of the event at 10:30 and 14:30.

“We want everyone who tries the sport at our booth to experience a sense of success. Even a small try can spark an interest in a new hobby,” Vitikainen says.

Cheerleading offers opportunities for both recreational participation and competitive sport. Key elements of the sport include lifts (stunts), pyramids, tosses, tumbling and jumps, as well as cheer. Member clubs of the federation provide teams and activities for all ages, from young children to adults and even family exercise groups.

A limited selection of popular FinCheer merch will be available for purchase at the booth, including a new pink sweatshirt and t-shirt. Visitors can also participate in a raffle to win a 100€ gift card to the FinCheer online store. The merch sale is open on Friday and Saturday from 9:00–10:30, 12:00–14:30, and 15:30–18:00 and on Sunday until 17:00.
