Maxpo 2025 presents large machinery in Hyvinkää from Thursday to Saturday
Finland's largest machinery fair Maxpo 2025 will present large machinery and construction services to industry professionals from the end of the week with 250 exhibitors. This year, you will also get to know autonomous construction machines. The Maxpo 2025 fair will be held from Thursday to Saturday, 28–30 August 2025 at Hyvinkää Airport.
The Maxpo fair is now larger than the previous event, which was held two years ago. There will be approximately 250 (2023: 237) companies participating and exactly 47,000 m2 (2023: 43,912 m2) in use. Maxpo presents land construction, environmental management, road and building construction machinery, as well as industrial material handling machinery in all sizes.
Maxpo has been renovated and a lot of functionality has been added. You can now see more machines in operation at the fair and you can also test drive about 20 machines there. The event is hosted by Helena Riihitupa, who highlights various new products and interesting products in her interviews. Every day there will be a performance and demos of an autonomous machine swarm. The first European Championships for mobile crane operators will be held at the end of the week, on Friday and Saturday.
The machine swarm makes its debut at Maxpo
At the Maxpo fair, you can see how an autonomous excavator, dump truck, bulldozer and soil compactor work individually and together. There will be a machine swarm demonstration at the fair, where a section of road is built using swarm intelligence. The demonstration times are Thursday 28 August at 1 pm, Friday 29 August at 4 pm and Saturday 30 August at 2 pm. There will also be individual machine demos every day.
The University of Oulu's SWARM project is a research project on autonomous cooperation of construction equipment, which studies and develops construction equipment swarms and their automatic control on infrastructure construction sites. The project will be presented at the Maxpo 2025 trade fair and will be the first to see and hear about the results of the five million euro project.
On Thursday, August 28 at 12:30, there will be a panel discussion on how automated control of work machines will change the industry. The discussion, Machine Swarms in Practice – Prerequisites, Challenges and Industry Impacts, will feature Professor Rauno Heikkilä, Head of SWARM Project, University of Oulu, Development Manager Mika Jaakkola from Destia, Head of Technology Heikki Keränen from Satel, Research Director Antti Kolu from Novatron, Senior Expert Nina Raitanen from Infra ry and Strategic Research and Innovation Manager Mikko Valtee from Sandvik. After the discussion (held in finnish), the first appearance of the autonomous machine swarm will be seen at 1:00 p.m.
Golden Crane Competition - 48 competitors
The Golden Crane Competition 2025, the European Championship for Mobile Crane Operators, which is now being held for the first time, will feature 16 drivers from abroad and 32 from Finland. The competitions will be held on Friday and Saturday, August 29–30. The competitions will be held on two different tracks and with a mobile crane. The task involves lifting, transporting and placing objects in a specific location. The awards ceremony will be held on Saturday, August 30th at 3 pm.
