Visit Hanko Showcases a Sustainable Coastal Destination at Matka Travel Fair
Hanko’s traditional summer events, such as the Alfons Håkans Hanko Regatta on 3–5 July, will once again bring boating enthusiasts and lovers of life to Hanko. The Hanko Tennis Weeks from 5–13 July are among the largest and most established summer events. For both young and seasoned tennis fans alike, Hanko is an absolute must. There are events and courses for all ages and skill levels. Other well-established events include Hanko’s own art event Hangart, the Picnic in the Casino Park, and the long-standing Unikeonpäivä (Seven Sleepers Day) celebration with a tradition spanning well over a hundred years—not to forget the late-summer Hanko Soul Jazz Festival.
Hanko Days on 28–30 August bring together all friends of Hanko for unforgettable experiences. The Night of the Ancient Fires on 29 August signals the transition from the vibrant summer season to autumn. Hanko fills with festivities as well as fireworks.
Rail connections between Hanko and Helsinki will improve significantly at the beginning of the year, when the Finnish Railway VR introduces further two direct train services daily. Hanko will become even more accessible to everyone.
The Coastal Route, well known among cyclists, invites cycling tourists to an enchanting and diverse archipelago as well as idyllic ironworks villages. Just over an hour from Helsinki and Turku, there is a cycling loop of up to 200 km that connects Hanko with neighboring areas such as Kemiönsaari (via Bengtskär), Raasepori, and Salo. Combine your cycling trip with a boat transfer from Hanko to visit the Bengtskär Lighthouse, or even a cruise in the waters off Hanko! Outside the summer season, Hanko is fascinating and peaceful. On a luxurious spa holiday, Regatta Spa offers perfect relaxation. The bravest can don a wetsuit and let a wilderness guide take them kayaking on the waves. For a gentler experience, try forest bathing with a guide. Afterwards, you can enjoy culinary delights at one of Hanko’s high-quality restaurants.

Finland’s southernmost point and the Tulliniemi Nature Trail are year-round attractions. The much-anticipated new lean-to shelters have been completed along the Tulliniemi Nature Trail and in the village of Lappohja, adding comfort for hikers. We will be exhibiting at the Travel Fair at a joint stand with the Western region of Uusimaa municipalities of Raasepori, Inkoo, and Siuntio.
Visit Hanko Awarded the Sustainable Travel Finland Label as a Tourism Destination
Hanko is one of Finland’s pioneers in sustainable tourism! In December, Visit Hanko was awarded the prestigious Sustainable Travel Finland label in recognition of long-term work to develop responsible tourism. Hanko is the 13th Finnish tourism destination to receive the label. The recognition strengthens Hanko’s position nationally among the leading destinations for sustainable tourism.
