Kirjaviisas launches gift cards: the reader chooses what they want to read

Kirjaviisas, a Finnish book club that sends second-hand books, has launched a gift card. It can be bought for one, three or six book packages, and the recipient chooses the theme and describes their own reading wishes. Kirjaviisas is a Finnish book club that sends subscribers three second-hand books once a month, based on a chosen theme and their own wishes. Every package is put together by hand. The books are used but in good condition, and each one finds a new reader.

The new gift card brings the same idea to gifting. The buyer chooses how many packages the gift includes: one, three or six. The recipient redeems the card, picks a theme and tells us what they want to read and what they don’t.

”Books are one of the most popular Christmas gifts, but choosing the right book for someone else is hard. You don’t know what they’ve already read. With a gift card, the recipient tells us what they want to read, and we choose,” says Pontus Aurdal, co-founder of Kirjaviisas.

A gift card costs the same as the equivalent subscription. It can be bought at kirjaviisas.fi and at the Book Fair, stand 6p91.
