Over one million visitors to Helsinki Expo and Convention Centre in 2025

The number of visitors to the Helsinki Expo and Convention Centre exceeded the symbolic milestone of one million last year for the first time since the pandemic years. A total of 1,004,912 guests attended trade fairs, corporate events, congresses and meetings.

Among the public events organised by the Helsinki Expo and Convention Centre itself, the Helsinki Book Fair and the concurrently held Wine & Food event reached an all-time attendance record, attracting 104,516 visitors. This is the highest visitor number for a single event at the Centre in 35 years.

Compared with their previous editions, visitor numbers also increased at Matka Travel Fair, Vene Båt, MP Motorcycle Show, Child Fair, I love me and Studia. Among professional events, Educa, Maxpo and Cyber Security Nordic, among others, reached new record levels. Of the guest events, the Finnish Kennel Club’s World Dog Show brought more than 48,000 visitors from 73 countries to the Centre.

The year 2025 was also a strong one for congresses. Ten international congresses held at the Helsinki Expo and Convention Centre brought more than 28,600 congress delegates to Helsinki. According to a delegate survey conducted by the Finland Convention Bureau, the average economic impact of each congress participant is €2,000, meaning that the congresses held at the Messukeskus generated income and employment effects for Finland totalling over €57 million.

“Face-to-face events work because their appeal is based on people’s natural desire to share experiences. We are delighted with the record-breaking visitor numbers. Best of all, at the same time our Net Promoter Score (NPS), which measures visitor satisfaction and willingness to recommend, also rose and is now at a record high of 53. In addition, business decision-makers selected the Helsinki Expo and Convention Centre as Finland’s best trade fair and event organiser in Taloustutkimus’ annual Business Life Decision-Makers – TEP 2025 (Työelämän päättäjät – TEP 2025) survey,” says Lumia Ankkuri, Marketing and Communications Director at the Helsinki Expo and Convention Centre.

High standards are set for service quality. Decision-makers particularly value the functionality of the Centre’s exhibition and trade fair facilities, its wide range of services, the professionalism of its staff, versatile ancillary services and its ability to renew and develop.

Helsinki Expo and Convention Centre continuously develops its facilities and grows alongside the city. Last autumn, the Messukeskus Arena grandstand complex with a capacity of 5,000 people was taken into use, and construction of the Messukeskus Solar event space is now getting under way. With an investment of approximately €20 million, the project is one of the Centre’s largest investments in recent decades.
