At Habitare Pro, Arktis presents Rework for extending furniture life, Kvadrat’s latest fabrics and new product launches
Finnish furniture manufacturer Arktis will present a new chapter in its work with public interiors at Habitare Pro, held in Helsinki from 2 to 6 September 2026. At stand 6e80, the company introduces Arktis Rework, a concept for extending the life of existing Arktis furniture, together with the new Helma collection, the return of iconic Pikku-Kari children’s furniture, an expanded Huup collection, and selected pieces from Soru.
The presentation reflects a broader shift in the way contract furniture is designed, specified and maintained. Instead of focusing only on new production, Arktis highlights furniture as something that can be renewed, adapted and kept in use for longer. Rework gives existing Arktis pieces a new life through professional reupholstery, refinishing and adaptation, turning worn furniture into renewed solutions for future interiors. This approach is now further supported by Arktis’s EcoCompass environmental management programme certificate and its commitment to continuous improvement in environmental responsibility.
For architects, interior architects and buyers, Rework offers a practical response to the growing demand for more resource-conscious interior projects. It supports longer product lifecycles and makes it possible to update spaces without unnecessarily replacing furniture that still has structural and material value.
Alongside Rework, Arktis presents collections that expand its vocabulary for flexible public interiors. Huup, created by Jouni Leino, has grown into a broader modular seating system with integrated tables and armrests, as well as a sofa version. Helma, a new collection by Mikko Halonen, introduces a softer modular language through seating elements and a coffee table.
New and returning designs for public interiors
Kvadrat’s newest fabrics add a material focus
The stand also presents Arktis furniture upholstered in Kvadrat’s newest fabrics, including designs by Patricia Urquiola and Raf Simons. The collaboration brings an added layer of material, colour and surface detail to the presentation: visitors are invited to experience the textiles in person at Habitare before the products continue to the Kvadrat showroom after the fair.
Arktis will also bring Pikku-Kari into production as part of the Kari collection. Designed by Kari Asikainen in the 1980s, Pikku-Kari is a lightweight, stackable low chair made from birch plywood and shaped for children. Previously well liked, the design now returns through Arktis, adding a smaller scale to the Kari collection and opening it to environments shaped around young users.
Soru, designed by Mikko Halonen, will also be part of the presentation. With its softly curved backrests, wooden frame and removable upholstered parts, the collection adds another perspective to Arktis’s long-term approach to materials, comfort and continued use.
Together, Rework and the collections on display show Arktis’s commitment to furniture made not only for use, but for continued use. The presentation combines Finnish design, renewable natural materials, durable manufacturing and project-specific adaptability with a growing emphasis on maintenance, reuse and long-term value.
