A busy mother’s passion for crosswords inspires a new magazine – Ristikko Club

Launching this week, Ristikko Club invites readers to swap their phones for a pencil and take a little time for themselves. Printed in Finland, the new magazine makes its debut with a Christmas calendar issue.

In a busy life, time to yourself often comes in small pockets. Ristikko Club grew out of a passion for crosswords, the pleasure of unwinding with puzzles and the idea of a magazine worth pausing for – even when the to-do list is long.

“As a mother, I know that time to yourself doesn’t always mean a whole evening. Sometimes it’s just a moment at the kitchen table. I wanted to create a magazine that makes even that small moment feel like your own. You don’t have to finish everything – sometimes solving a few words is enough.”

Ristikko Club is made for people who enjoy moments of discovery, words and putting pencil to paper. Readers can dip into it over morning coffee, curl up with it on the sofa or invite someone to solve a puzzle together.

A Christmas calendar with a moment for yourself behind every door

Ristikko Club’s first issue offers 24 days of me-time in the run-up to Christmas. Its crosswords and puzzles explore festive flavours, music, films and winter scenes. The magazine also includes codeword puzzles, sudoku and word searches.

The 52-page magazine makes a thoughtful little gift for yourself or someone close to you. Start at the beginning of December and work through it one day at a time – or simply pick it up whenever you feel like it.

“In the run-up to Christmas, it’s easy to focus on everyone else’s wishes. The idea behind this calendar is simple: you’re allowed to set aside a small moment for yourself, too.”

Ristikko Club’s story begins with a Christmas calendar

The Finnish-language Christmas calendar magazine, printed in Finland, is Ristikko Club’s first publication. It will be joined by a crossword and puzzle magazine published four times a year.
