🏔️ Next-Generation Skiing & Winter Innovations

Tänndalen: High-Speed Slopes and Premium Wellness

Tänndalen is heavily investing in the guest experience with two brand-new ski lifts and a fully renovated luxury wellness area at Ski Lodge Tänndalen. In the Troca Park (Buskvallen), a modern T-bar lift replaces the old platter lift to drastically reduce queues. Additionally, a new wind-sheltered storm lift is being built at Valliften in Buskvallen to secure smooth skiing during harsh weather conditions. After a day on the mountain, the new spa concept focuses on circulation and recovery, featuring an infrared (IR) sauna, ice-cold showers, and revitalizing foot baths.

The Return of the Legendary ”Tusenmetersliften” in Åre

One of the ski resort Åre’s most iconic slopes is brought back to life as the classic Tusenmetersliften makes a long-awaited comeback in February 2027. Built by SkiStar as a robust ski lift to withstand harsh alpine conditions, its top station reaches 1,319 meters above sea level, making it the highest-situated lift in Åre. This allows skiers to maximize their time in the snow-reliable high-zone without having to take the long route down to the village.

Automated Eco-Smart Snow Tech & Expanded Snow Guarantees

  • Storlien Högfjällshotell: Investing 8.5 million SEK (partially funded by a 3 million SEK grant from Region Jämtland Härjedalen) into a fully automated, energy-efficient snowmaking system. It allows production at warmer temperatures, extending the season.
  • Vemdalen: Installing 202 new snow guns to ensure premium slope conditions early in the season. As a result, SkiStar Vemdalen is expanding its alpine snow guarantee to promise at least 20 open slopes between December 18, 2026, and April 4, 2027.
  • Affordable Ski Passes: SkiStar introduces new budget-friendly regional ski passes for Duved/Tegefjäll (Åre) and Klövsjö/Storhogna (Vemdalen). These passes target families seeking a relaxed pace and are now available for extended periods rather than just single days.

🥾 Sustainable Hiking, Gravel Cycling & Accessible Nature

Wilderness Cycling in Tänndalen

Tänndalen/Funäsfjällen launches the ”Gravel biking in the Mountains” concept. To preserve the pristine wilderness feel, physical signs have been omitted. Instead, cyclists navigate curated routes via a dedicated smartphone app, featuring exact distances for trails like Flatruet—Sweden’s highest public road.
16 Certified Hiking Trails

Jämtland Härjedalen Turism has certified a vast selection of hiking routes under the National Framework for Hiking Trails, guaranteeing top-tier maintenance and clear signage. A prime example is the scenic 7-kilometer Bynäset trail on Frösön. Furthermore, a brand-new wheelchair- and stroller-accessible wooden ramp has been inaugurated in Handöl, ensuring that the spectacular mountain nature is open to everyone, regardless of physical ability. There are a total of 16 certified hiking trails and of course more trails than you can possibly count in addition.
