Almedahls continues the journey in sustainable textile production: We offer the world’s first and only textile material that has achieved the status of Cradle to Cradle Certified® Gold

Almedahls continues to become a leading player in sustainable textile production. Our approach follows the UN’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The content and results of our sustainability work will be verified by three international bodies. We offer hanging textiles based on the patented naNea fiber: the world’s first and only textile material that has achieved the status of Cradle to Cradle Certified® Gold.

We have expanded the scope of our sustainability work with the aim of becoming a leading player in sustainable textile production. Almedahls follows the UN’s Agenda 2030, which means that a wide range of areas, including working conditions and human well-being, are taken into account.

We have chosen to verify our approach to sustainability and results in cooperation with three leading international bodies: CDP and EcoVadis, which we have already been audited by. In addition, we are working to secure a STeP certification from Ökotex by the end of 2023.

Our latest highlight in sustainability is the CIRCLE series of hanging textiles for public spaces, based on the naNea fiber. naNea from OceanSafe is the world’s FIRST and ONLY textile material that has achieved the status of Cradle to Cradle Certified® Gold for the biological cycle. This means that CIRCLE is made for biodegradability and is produced entirely without toxins throughout the entire production process.

naNea OceanSafe fibers dramatically reduce the emission of microplastics to the sea and air. The few fibers that are emitted are biodegradable within a few days. The textiles are toxin-free both in the production process and in emissions to air and water.

When the textiles have outlived their lifespan, they are returned to the ecosystem through a return system managed by Almedahls. They are then converted into new textile fibers or into organic base materials through composting.

Gry Hege Sølsnes, CEO of Almedahls, states: ”At Almedahls, we have been working for several decades to build and develop a unique sustainability footprint. We are proud to receive external recognition from international bodies. We are even more proud to offer the professional market CIRCLE; the first and only truly circular solution in hanging textiles for public spaces.”

Meet Almedahls Solutions at Habitare Pro in Helsinki, 13-15 September 2023 on booth 6c60.
