Days of Summer – Acoustic Light Fixture by Mölinä
Finnish acoustic company Mölinä is set to unveil a new series of light fixtures at the Habitare Pro 2024 fair, designed to revolutionize our perception of acoustic lighting.
Designers Timo Hoisko and Matti Korpela drew inspiration from the vibrant nature of the northern summer, the meadows, and the interplay of light and shadow. The folding, petal-like *Days of Summer* light fixture continues Mölinä’s sculptural design line. ”In designing the light fixture, we wanted to introduce a more delicate and soft design language to Mölinä’s collection,” says Korpela.
A challenge in the design was to find a balance between proportions and aesthetic lightness, while considering the special properties of the materials and the functionality of the light fixture. An authentically acoustic element needs to be reasonably large to ensure optimal echo absorption.
The *Days of Summer* light fixtures are particularly suitable for large spaces, where groups of lights create layering and a festive atmosphere while lightening the mood of the space. Various sizes enable the use of the light fixture in modern, spacious homes that often struggle with acoustic issues.
The light fixture, made from recycled PET felt, is available in multiple color options and three sizes: 700mm, 950mm, and 1150mm.
The light fixture is delivered with an E27 socket and a dimmable 120 mm diameter LED light source.
