Utsjoki at the Travel Fair 2025: You Can and May Fish on the Teno!
“The Teno is closed to fishing” is a common misconception created by the salmon fishing ban, overshadowing the reality of one of the Nordic region’s most renowned fishing tourism destinations. However, this is not the whole story.
Fishing and tourism expert Elias Teriö will share insights about the current state of fishing on the Teno River and the fishing opportunities in Utsjoki during his presentations on various stages at the Travel Fair on Friday and Saturday.
The Teno Valley continues to offer unforgettable fishing experiences, whether shared with others or enjoyed solo – catering to both beginners and seasoned anglers. Visitors at the fair will learn about the fish species available in the region and how they can be caught. Elias will highlight the fishing opportunities in the Teno’s main channel for fly and lure anglers, as well as discuss the future prospects of the river, including potential fishing opportunities related to pink salmon.
Additionally, Elias will provide an overview of the extensive fishing opportunities in the vast fells of the Utsjoki area, along with related guidance and permits. The presentation will also touch on the guide services available in the Teno Valley.
Elias will appear on the Traveller Stage (Hall 6) on Friday, January 17, at 12:30 PM, and on the Navigator Stage (Hall 7) on Saturday, January 18, at 10:30 AM. Visitors can also ask Elias about fishing and other tourism-related topics in the Utsjoki region at the Utsjoki and Lapland North Destination (LND) booth 6F48.
